Budget Bites: Mangan Tayon

MANGAN TAYON sa Obrero! Mangan Tayon is an Ilokano phrase which means Let's Eat. And now, this is the name of a new small eatery in Burgos St. Obrero. It's a small barbecue place of around 5 to 6 tables but don't let its smallness fool you. Their barbecue is indeed very rich in flavor.

Rubina and I went to this place on a cold and rainy night. Mind you, I wasn't really feeling well that night but eating here made me feel better. We ordered around 4 sticks of pork barbecue, 4 sticks of isaw and a serving of their panga and overall I think we spent just around P 250. (I forgot to take not of the price of rice)

Pork barbecue is indeed very addictive. It wasn't overcooked (overbarbecued?) and the marinate really seeped into the meat. You'll really know that it was marinated for hours The barbecue sauce is a bit sweet. But, my God it complemented the juicy flavorful pork meat.
Isaw and Barbecue ( P 5/each)
The panga was also delicious. It wasn't the type that would melt in your mouth but it wasn't dry. It was brushed with a sauce that would make you want to eat more. I actually think I ate half of the panga we ordered. There's actually one think I wished though. I wished the sauced they used seeped into the panga -pierce the panga with a fork and just let the sauce get in there. It would've brought the panga experience to a whole new level.
Panga (P 180 )
I'm still looking forward to eating their sisig and chicken barbecue next time. I think I forgot to mention something. They also deliver for a fee.

So, if you are hungry and have only P 40 in your wallet, don't forget the name Mangan Tayon. You can order P 20 worth of barbecue about 4 pcs and use the rest for rice.

It's almost lunch time. Mangan Tayon!
